Who am I?
My name is Yohan Runhaar and I am a MSC Artificial Intelligence at the University of Amsterdam. I am also Co-Founder and CTO at Reef Support.
I grew up in and visited many different countries and continents, had an international education and learned several languages. This makes me very flexible, open-minded and allows me to adapt very quickly to a new environment.
I am creative and a quick learner. I have proven my ability to work both in a team and independently during the many assignments and projects in my study as well as in my past job experiences.
The last few months I have been working together with some fellow students on our own startup Reef Support. Our goal is to help preserve coral reefs and develop sustainable coastal businesses by ensuring they can sustain life and income using artificial intelligence and satellite imagery.
In my free time, I love designing websites and web applications. This allows me to exercise my creative side. I am also a meticulous person as I pay great attention to the quality of my work.
Interests
Other than Computer Science, here are some of my interests.
Finance: I enjoy following financial markets, keeping up with the latest news in the Tech industry and making personal investments.
Sports: I love both watching and playing football as well as basketball. In order to keep fit, I regularly play basketball at an association in TU Delft. I also occasionally exercise at the gym.
Traveling: I lived in Mozambique, Ecuador, The Netherlands, Vietnam and visited many different countries.

Object-Oriented Programming
I gained a lot of experience in writing software in C++ and Java during the many projects and assignments surrounding my study. I expanded this knowledge during my time as a Software Developer at Gaming Support. I have a vast knowledge on object oriented programming, software quality and testing as well as algorithm design. I also have experience with multiple libraries and frameworks for both java and C++.

Software Quality and Testing
I always make sure that my software is properly tested and that the quality of the code adheres to the quality standards. I mainly use JUnit5 to test Java applications and Jasmine to test JavaScript code. I also use static analysis tools such as PMD, Spotbugs and Checkstyle to improve the code quality as well as other testing frameworks such as Mockito in order to improve code coverage.
Agile Development
The many projects in my study were developed following an Agile based software development, notably SCRUM. I therefore have a good knowledge of the Agile methodologies and practices.
Algorithm Design
I have a vast knowledge of algorithms and data structures as well as a range of design and analysis techniques for problems that arise in computing applications.
Computational Intelligence
I am familiar with the theory, design and application and development of computational intelligence.
Computer Graphics
I worked on some projects that involved computer Graphics such as the making of a ray tracer. I use C++ with the OpenGL library.
